Meaning:

The pattern Joong-Gun is named after the patriot Ahn Joong-Gun who assassinated Hiro Bumi Ito, the first Japanese Governor-General of Korea, known as the man who played the leading part in the Korea-Japan merger. There are 32 movements in this pattern to represent Mr. Ahn’s age when he was executed at Lui-Shung prison (1910).

Description:

Start in ready stance B

  1. Turn 90 degrees counter-clockwise towards B into a right back stance and left-hand inverted ridge-hand strike
  2. Left foot front kick keeping the position of the hands as they were in previous step
  3. Lower the left foot and then step the right foot forward towards B into a left cat stance and right hand upward palm block
  4. Turn 180 degrees clockwise towards A into a left back stance and right hand inverted ridge-hand strike
  5. Right foot front kick keeping the position of the hands as they were in previous step
  6. Lower the right foot and then step the left foot forward towards A into a right cat stance and left hand upward palm block
  7. Turn 90 degrees counter-clockwise into a right back stance towards D and double knife-hand guarding block
  8. Shift left foot over into a left front stance and right-hand upper elbow strike
  9. Step forward towards D into a left back stance and double knife-hand guarding block
  10. Shift right foot over into a right front stance and left arm upper elbow strike
  11. Step forward towards D into a left front stance and twin high punch
  12. Step forward towards D into a right front stance and twin upset punch
  13. 2 step turn into a left front stance towards C and high X-block
  14. Turn 90 degrees counter-clockwise into a right back stance towards A and left hand back fist
  15. Twist left fist counter-clockwise until back fist faces down while sliding left foot into a left front stance
  16. Without stepping right hand high punch perform moves 15 and 16 fast motion
  17. Bring the left foot to the right foot turning 90 degrees clockwise and then turn 90 clockwise move
  18. foot into a left back stance towards B and right hand back fist
  19. Twist right fist clockwise until back fist faces down while sliding right foot into a right front stance
  20. Without stepping left hand high punch perform moves 18 and 19 fast motion
  21. Bring the right foot to the left foot turning 90 degrees counter-clockwise and then step forward towards C into a left front stance and left hand reinforced middle block
  22. Pull left foot back and then back out into a right back stance towards C and left hand middle punch
  23. Right foot side kick towards C
  24. Lower the right foot into right front stance towards C and reinforced middle block
  25. Pull right foot back and then back out into a left back stance towards C and right-hand middle punch
  26. Left foot side kick towards C
  27. Lower the left foot into a left back stance towards C while double fist guarding block
  28. Executing pressing breaking block while slipping the left foot into a left low front stance
  29. Step forward into a right back stance and double fist guarding block
  30. Executing pressing breaking block while slipping the right foot into a right low front stance
  31. Bring the left foot to the right foot riding 90 degrees counter-clockwise forming a closed stance facing A and right hand angle punch
  32. Step right foot into a right fixed stance and U-shape block hands should be in vertical line with the knee
  33. Bring the right foot to the left foot turning 90 degrees counter-clockwise and then step the left foot into a right back stance towards B and U-shape block hands should be in vertical line with the knee
